After years of standing together in the scaffold, in December 2015 it was decided between a few ultras that the fun shouldn't just be watching football, but playing together as mates. Born was the Clapton Ultras MNF (monday night football). For over a year and a half the Clapton Ultras have met on a weekly basis to have a friendly kick about and socialise. With a fluctuation in numbers each week (shoutout to the January 2017 -2 degrees crew), each week is different and allows you to see different faces and have a laugh no matter the situation. We played our first tournament as a Clapton Ultras team at the Arsenal Hub in February 2016 in celebration of LGBT history month. Since then we have played in Sheffield for the Football for Food tournament organised by AFC Unity and Mount Pleasant Park's charity fundraising tournament, Hamburg in Ultras Saint Pauli's Antira tournament, Bremen in Infamous Youth's 'United as One' Cup and in our own back garden, East London taken on Down's FC (Clapton Ultras fan run sunday league team) in Clapton Ultra's first ever 11 a-side. Yet to see any major tournament success so far, our semi-final appearance in Bremen was a big deal for us which will be celebrated for years. Much more accustom to a goal mouth scramble and a lost ball, we're looking forward to being part of PEL once again and welcoming teams from all over the country.
